Do It Green! is coming to the University of Minnesota

Do It Green! U of M Chapter

The University of Minnesota is a place for young people to expand their horizons by educating themselves about issues that are important and relevant to their lives. For this reason and many more, the 2009 Do It Green! Minnesota U of M Interns are establishing a University of Minnesota chapter of Do It Green! Minnesota.

Though the University has many clubs that focus on environmental awareness, we feel that the U of M is lacking a student group that focuses on how to reduce personal impacts on the environment while building a feeling of local community.

We will be educating students through weekly meetings, informational booths, and community workshops. Our group retains the overall mission of Do It Green! Minnesota, which is to educate others about sustainability and community involvement. The main difference between Do It Green! Minnesota and the University chapter, Do It Green! U of M Chapter, will be the direct audience. Most students read about green innovations and think “Great. I can’t install a low flow toilet because I live in an apartment (or dorm). How can I reduce my impact?” The U of M chapter will focus on issues relevant to students, including food, transportation, energy, and fun, all in a community oriented setting.
