How and why our yards are among the last best places for birds, bees, butterflies, and other wildlife.

Join us for a fast-paced, delightful presentation that will change the way you view your yard and perhaps the community in which you live. Presenter Holley Wlodarczyk, Ph.D., (consulting historian for the Minnesota History Museum’s “Suburbia” exhibit) will recount the fascinating history of our urban and suburban landscapes and how communities across the country are embracing more and more, the concept of “ecoscaping” to create robust habitat for wildlife in our yards (both big and small), parks, and community spaces.

Liz Stanley, avid birder, Master Naturalist, and Wild Ones and Richardson Nature Center volunteer, will take us on a photo journey of the amazing transformation of her suburban Bloomington backyard into a wildlife habitat. See how she created a wonderful space that delights humans while providing “safe places” for birds, bees, butterflies, and other wildlife.

If you are interested in learning how to transform a small corner or your yard, or are pondering a major naturescape “re-do,” you will enjoy the ideas, stories, and experiences shared in this dynamic hour.
