March 2020: Wasted Food

We are canceling this event to keep our community safe and healthy during this coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and prevent further spread. We are working to reschedule this event and transition future Green Coffee Talks as virtual gatherings. Be well!

March 18, 2020, 6:00–7:30 p.m.
Peace Coffee, 3262 Minnehaha Ave, Minneapolis

In the US, 40% of food goes uneaten. This has negative effects on the environment, from the resources it takes to grow and distribute the food to the emissions created when it is thrown away and sent to landfills.

We may think of the food waste that ends up in landfills as food that is expired or unsafe to eat or left-over kitchen scraps. But a lot of the food that is going to waste, is actually good food. It’s wasted food. It’s food that could be feeding millions of Americans.

Join us for a conversation with Imperfect Foods on March 18 to discuss what makes food “imperfect” and why it ends up in the landfill. Come learn from each other on what we we can do as individuals to prevent wasted food.
