Category: General Tend the native bluff prairie at Indian Mounds Park

July 11, 2017 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Indian Mounds Park is an iconic overlook, home to a much-needed restoration project providing habitat and biodiversity while protecting the bluff, the views and local water quality. Friends of the Mississippi River volunteers have been restoring the native bluff prairie on historic Indian Mounds Park's overlook since 2011. On Tuesday, July 11, 2017 - 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm volunteers are now needed to lend a hand working with FMR and Saint Paul Parks & Recreation staff to tend to native prairie plants previously installed by other Indian Mounds Park stewards. By removing invasive species and assisting with other tending tasks, volunteers will help the plants thrive and make it through the summer.

To ensure a high-quality experience, capacity is limited and preregistration required. To sign up, visit us at http://fmr.org/events/2017/07/11/tend-native-bluff-prairie-indian-mounds-park. Please wear sturdy shoes and be prepared to work on steep and uneven terrain. While most FMR activities are family friendly, due to the tools and terrain this particular event is not suitable for small children. Tools and training will be provided.

Registration closes end of day Wednesday, July 10th.
